On behalf of the Urban Minority Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Outreach Programs of Ohio, I am pleased to welcome you to the 18th Annual UMADAOP’s of Ohio State Conference. This exciting event will be held August 23-25, 2007 at the Cincinnati Marriott North at Union Centre. (A wonderfully exciting Pre-Conference kickoff is being planned for the evening of August 22, 2007. Details will be posted on our website as they are finalized.) The hotel is conveniently located just north of Cincinnati in West Chester, Ohio.
This year’s theme is “A Model for the Nation”: Framing Effective Strategies to Implement Multi-Cultural and Multi-Dimensional Services. Focus will be placed on comprehensive violence prevention to include re-entry and ex-offender issues; youth and gangs; HIV/AIDS prevention; strategies for healthy living; alcohol, tobacco, prescription and other drug prevention and culturally appropriate service delivery.
The goal of the conference is to provide in depth, culturally competent, skill-based learning to advance the realm of competency for prevention service professionals.
The 18th Annual State Conference will feature an outstanding slate of keynote and workshop speakers. Our uniquely designed conference agenda will provide support not only for the development of knowledge, skills and abilities for newer prevention practitioners—but also for those with a wealth of experience.
There will also be ample opportunities for peer-to-peer exchange and networking. You’ll also get a chance to “relax and recharge your batteries” at the beautiful new Cincinnati Marriott North Hotel. We are confident that those who attend this conference will gain useful information.
If this will be your first UMADAOP State Conference we are delighted to have you join us! To those who have attended past UMADAOP State Conferences, welcome back!
We encourage you to register early to reserve space and obtain the best rates.
Sincerely,
Michael Langford
2007 State Conference Chairperson
